Roger, rain

Roger Federer lost! Who else has been as dominant as Federer in their sport,
and does this sort of dominance not show that he possesses inhuman
determinance and extraordinary drive. Who else has shown such complete
control over their sport? Not Tiger Woods, he hasn't won many of his
tournaments....

Also it has begun to rain again, and will probably rain on and off until
summer starts next january...... I prefer the rain to the sunshine anyway.

Obesity/diabetes epidemics....

"New Zealand needs to brace itself for soaring numbers of chronic kidney disease patients if the diabetes epidemic is not slowed down, researchers say.

Diabetes is responsible for almost half of all patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease."
-NZPA

maybe its because people are getting fatter and fatter.... stop them getting fatter and diabetes will not be as widespread- eat less and eat better.

people who have diabetes genetically must be annoyed.

Stopping the 'browning' of NZ??

"Maori Party co-leader Tariana Turia said it was predicted that by the year 2050 there will be a significant number of people with Maori, Pacific Island and Asian backgrounds.

She accused the Government of trying to prevent that by encouraging immigration from traditional countries such as Australia, Britain and Canada. "

What?
You could say she would stop the 'whitening' of NZ if the Maori party was in power. I think she is just crazy - they let almost anyone come and live here... Doesnt matter if you are a criminal or anything....

Faster than light speed.

Does science fiction have it wrong? If it was possible to go faster than light speed then in a universe of infinite possibility/probabilty; shouldn't something, somewhere, have invented it already? And if so, wouldn't they have travelled far and wide across the universe(s) by now?

Perhaps they have done so and have already visited earth. Why didn't they stop to say hi? Probably because they had enough sense to avoid a place that is the scene of many stupid ideas.

Icons

The Croc hunter and Peter 'perfect'.
Two aussie icons that were treated differently following their unfortunate accidents.
The email 'jokes' about Steve Irwin, yet nothing but respect and nice things said about Peter Brock.

Makes me wonder who in NZ would be or was a REAL NZ Icon? Sir Ed? Colin Meads? Peter Blake? Possum? Anyone else? Any women that would be considered icons?

the game -- words beginning with O

This little game has been going around for a while. Cherrie assigned me the letter O.

Write ten words beginning with that letter in your blog, including an explanation of what the word means to you and why

Awesome -- (see David Tua on 'Wheel of Fortune')
---why? because its funny.

Othello
---why? he was one of shakespeares characters, and a board game... and the guy that played Othello in the movie was also Morpheus in the matrix, also a good name containing O, and if you have read the play, Othello was refered to as a MOOR (racist :( ), which is spooky cos it is the same as morpheus.... oooOoOoOooOooooo

dOnut
--- why? it looks like an O and sh0uld really be called an Onut.

Oh
--- why? it can be used so many ways to express so many feelings.. Oh. = i dont care. Oh = WOW!! A whole range of feelings

Oocyte
--- why? has two O's, and have heard the term "Zenopus Oocyte" too many times this year already.....

Omnipotence
--- why? it is a strange concept that can not exist
"You know, I rather like this God fellow. Very theatrical, you know. Pestilence here, a plague there. Omnipotence ... gotta get me some of that. " -- an evil baby.

Jonah Lomu.

Many people have heard of him, even if they have never seen him.

Professional sportsman in possibly one of the most contactible of contact sports.

He had 'failing kidneys', was on dialysis, then was given a kidney, to be transplanted into him, by one of his friends.
Cured of his illness he went back into playing the sport he loves, where he could "possibly" injure himself and his new kidney. SOME people said he shouldnt do it and he should just be thankful he is once again healthy, calling for him to not play again.

It is his dream to play once more for his country that he loves in the sport that he loves, why should other people tell him what he can and cannot dream?.

I would personally love to see the guy again playing for the all blacks, if he was still good enough :P

is it fun to be back at university? yes. no.
why are some lectures just boring? is it a case of me making it boring? cos although it is interesting to me, the way its done is boring. could i do better? no, cos i hate speaking in front of all the peeps.

but university is fun, cos there are so many peopls you woudnt get to see othawise, and all the extra things that come with being a student. the only real downfall is the study you have to do :( i am sure i can find lots of other things to do.. :(

Cricket

Does anyone remember the cricket matches played following the tsunami?
Does anyone know where does all the money from the series between Australia and the World XI goes?

And why when you bring the best players in the world together do they play terribly? A couple played well, but were the rest just in it for the money?

"Hurricane political crisis deepens for Bush"
"Four 'looters' shot dead in New Orleans"
"Civilian helicopter crashes in New Orleans"
"Louisiana official haunted by drowned woman"

:(

I can’t believe the news today
Oh, I can’t close my eyes and make it go away
How long...
How long must we sing this song?
How long? how long...

’cause tonight...we can be as one
Tonight...

Broken bottles under children’s feet
Bodies strewn across the dead end street
But I won’t heed the battle call
It puts my back up
Puts my back up against the wall

Sunday, bloody sunday
Sunday, bloody sunday
Sunday, bloody sunday
